During the 1858 “Prayer-Meeting Revival,” tens of thousands of followers of Jesus fervently prayed, and the spark spread around the world. Within two years over a million converts were added to churches from every denomination.
There are many misconceptions about the word “revival.” Is revival a morbid experience for hyper-melancholies, or an over-used advertisement describing nothing more that spiritual excess? Neither one! True revival is a genuine move of the Spirit of God. It includes tears of both conviction and joy.
When we study revivals throughout history, the first and best accounts come from the Bible itself, even the Old Testament. This video summarizes nine outstanding characteristics of these major revivals. They are each totally relevant for us today.
